Pt. 2 of 2

Mount Moriah Cemetery has a sign at its entry points that says "permanently closed." What a great shame, for sure. With beautiful stones, history and mausoleums abound, Mount Moriah is a special place deep within the urban environment. For more on the cemetery, its history and preservation efforts, go here.

  1. That is just intensely awesome... next time I go back to see my folks near Philadelphia, I'm gonna visit this place, for sure. And I'd bet there are some other cemeteries around Philadelphia that could be interesting...

Another A+ Tom... If you keep this up you are going to graduate with honors !

  2. (laughs) Thanks, Owen. Just be aware that you'll be nowhere near the best stuff if you go in the summer. Spring and late-Fall, perhaps. The overgrowth and briers are out of control – even in the dead of winter. We'd like to back and explore more one day… likely when it's not raining or anything! ;)

  4. I'm with Owen. Next time I visit my family in Ohio, well it's just a roadtrip away. And plenty to discover on the way there. What a striking place. Stunning photos.

  5. I read the link, you would think at least some of those org. would do some upkeep. But as is, it does make for some striking photos.

I hope you do get back and get extensive pictures.
