Pt. 4 of 4
This set from Building #23 features the x-ray room, offices, lounges, science classrooms and the morgue. It's important to note that while taking the shot of the science mural, my back was facing the doorway to the morgue only 5 feet away. Please re-visit Pt. 1 of 4 to view the morgue in its original, pristine state during the late 1930s, as featured in LIFE Magazine.
For the history of the Pilgrim State Hospital, please see Pt. 1 of 4.

i'm a big fan of your work (via Sally Jane Vintage). are you by chance on Flickr? see, i have a weekly series on my blog called "Flickr Fave" where i feature about half a dozen pics from a photographer's photo stream.

Hey Katrina – Thanks for the note and I checked out the Flickr Fave but I'm sorry to say that I use this site exclusively to post my photography (outside of what I do for SJV, that is). If you're ever up for a Blog Fave, I'm your guy! (laughs) Just say the word and thanks for the kind words, for stopping by and for thinking of me. – Cheers, Tom b.
ReplyDeleteAmazing photography!
ReplyDeleteI would love to explore that hospital.
Looks like creepy goosebumps territory.
Great to find your blog!
Thanks for stopping by and, yeah, some of the places I explore are downright creeptastic. ;) Glad you're enjoying them and nice work on your blog too. Very textural, if you will. Anyway… great taste in music too as I also [heart] The Band, Television, Bat For Lashes and Bon Scott-led AC/DC (to name just a few)!
ReplyDeleteJust stunning...
ReplyDeleteAnd what was it Dylan said a while back ? "Don't put on any airs if you're down on Rue Morgue Avenue..."
We are so lucky to have you doing all this reporting for us, and for the time being for just a few of us... but it is going to go viral one of these days... I can feel it...
Thanks, Owen. I just got back from trying to do some further reporting, with limited luck I hate to admit. My feet are soaked, I'm tired as all get out but there's much more in line before March passed us by! I've been shooting my girlfriend quite a bit lately and this shot has garnered a bit of attention via her blog. For example…
